![]() She was stunned when Luffy chose not to punish her for trying to kill him, even though she was more than willing to accept any punishment, which deepened her admiration. It was only because she came to fear his strength that she chose to try and kill him, and even then hesitated. Rebecca immediately took a liking to Luffy as well, particularly because of his shared interest in the statue of Kyros. As a result, he was more than willing to hear her out. Even after she attempted to kill him, he held no anger over it as he believed her to be a genuinely kind person. She also rescued him when he was being harassed by numerous other contestants in the gladiatorial games. Luffy was quickly won over by her kindness, and even more so when she happily bought him some food to eat. After hearing her reasoning, he empathised with her greatly and the two became good friends. ![]() She decided to try and assassinate Luffy but was reluctant to do so, this hesitation allowed Luffy to effortlessly gain the upper hand. Soon enough, Luffy’s raw and overwhelming strength became apparent to Rebecca and she saw it as a threat to her goals to defeat Doflamingo. This impressed Luffy and Rebecca briefly bonded with him. Whilst he admired a statue of Kyros, she came up to him to thank him and informed of the history behind the statue. The two originally met in the Colosseum after Luffy defeated Spartan, who had bullied Rebecca repeatedly. Luffy overwhelms Rebecca after she tries to kill him. Rebecca became very fond of Luffy and felt indebted to him for having saved her kingdom and help her be reunited with her father. Luffy admired Rebecca’s determination to fight even though she is, relatively, weak, and chose to defeat Doflamingo primarily as a promise to her that he would do so. Whilst very briefly enemies, Luffy was able to sway Rebecca to see him as an ally and the two quickly became friends. Rebecca then told Lucy how she wanted to try and win her freedom before Toy Soldier could get himself killed trying to free her.Luffy and Rebecca share a close friendship that was forged in their battle against Dressrosa’s usurper, Donquixote Doflamingo. ![]() He still didn't hold a grudge against her and could tell she had no intention of killing him. After witnessing his incredible strength in the Block C round, she tried luring him down to the prisons to eliminate him to better her chances, but he evaded her attack. While waiting for the preliminaries, she befriended a small man named Lucy. ![]() She wanted to gain that power to take down Doflamingo. Rebecca was attending the tournament for at Corrida Colosseum to try and claim the prized Flame-Flame Fruit. Major Story Arcs Dressrosa Arc Dressrosa Arc Her first appearance was in One Piece Volume 71 CH. She would later appear in the Dressrosa Arc that began in Volume 70. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. Rebecca (レベッカ, Rebekka) is a supporting character in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. Though mocked by the crowds for her links to the previous kingdom, she fights for her freedom and to defeat Don Quixote. At some point, Rebecca became one of the many prisoner-gladiators at Corrida Colosseum. She had to remain hidden from the Don Quixote Family. ![]() Toy Soldier watched over and protected her as she grew up. While in hiding, Scarlet went to get food for Rebecca, but she was returned dead by Toy Soldier, who handed her the food her mother had went to get her. She loved her mother dearly and was very happy until Don Quixote Doflamingo and his men took over the kingdom and began hunting down all those linked to the Dressrosa Royal family. She was also the granddaughter of the king of the Riku Dynasty. Rebecca lived alone with her mother, Scarlet, on Dressrosa as flower merchants. ![]()
